Dance Audition & Education at Dansestudiet Aarhus

Are you dreaming of a future in dance? Whether you aim to pursue a professional career or want to refine your skills in a focused and inspiring environment, our dance education at Dansestudiet Aarhus offers a unique opportunity to grow artistically, physically, and personally.

Our 1-year full-time program is designed for dancers who are serious about their passion. Entry is based on an audition, and we welcome applications from across Denmark and abroad. The education is taught in English and has 6 nationalities at the moment. 

Dansestudiet Aarhus has been a creative hub for contemporary dance, street styles, and interdisciplinary performance for over a decade. Our faculty includes professional choreographers, performers, and dance teachers who are passionate about passing on knowledge, technique, and artistic courage.

Our education focuses on:

• Technique & body awareness
• Choreography & improvisation
• Artistic identity & performance
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Physical and mental well-being

We combine rigorous daily training with a safe, supportive atmosphere, where students are encouraged to take risks, explore, and grow.

• Duration: 1 academic year (September to June)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00–15:00
• Language of instruction: Danish & English (international students welcome)

Dance Disciplines Include:

• Contemporary
• Modern dance
• Ballet & floor-barre
• Jazz & street jazz
• Hip hop & house dance
• Improvisation & floorwork
• Full-body awareness (yoga, strength & stability)

Additional Components:

• Dance history, anatomy, and physiology
• Teaching and didactics
• Choreographic tools & group composition
• Final performance in professional theatre setting
• Mentoring & regular check-ins with the team
• Studio trip (e.g. to Berlin)
• Professional photo session for portfolio use

In order to be accepted into the program, all applicants must attend a dance audition. This is not only a technical assessment but a way for us to get to know you as a mover, thinker, and artist.

Audition includes:

• Warm-up & technique classes (contemporary / street jazz / house)
  
• Improvisation tasks
  
• Individual solo – maximum 1 minute.
  
• Short individual interview

We’re looking for dancers who are:

• Committed and curious
  
• Open to feedback and artistic exploration
  
• Physically prepared to engage in intensive training

You don’t have to be an advanced/semi-professional dancer to apply. We highly value dancers, with a big potential, that are passionate, present, and willing to learn.
