What you “become”:
It varies how our students use their dance education and what their goals are with it. Some use it as preparatory dance training to apply for higher education/other programs.
We have students who have been accepted into:
- The Danish National School of Performing Arts, DK
- The Ballet Academy Stockholm, SE
- ArtEZ, NL
- Flow Dance Academy, F
Dance Technical Skills
We dive deep into dance technique, and you will develop a strong foundation in a wide range of dance styles. As part of the program, you are free to take all the evening classes you want, so you can improve as much as possible. In the spring, we will go on a study trip to Berlin to dance and gather inspiration for the graduation performance at the end of the school year.
Dance as part of the Performing Arts
We work with dance as an artistic expression, and you will be introduced to various choreographic tools.
Throughout the program, there will be interdisciplinary collaborations with other art forms and small showcases of choreographic work, allowing you to build your performance experience. The program concludes with a large graduation performance in a professional setting within the Aarhus dance community.
Well-being
We create a safe learning environment where both physical and mental health are highly prioritized, without compromising our academic standards. We respect where you are in your learning journey, while maintaining our ambitions and expectations.
You will learn to take care of yourself as a dancer, ensuring that you are as strong and well-grounded as possible for your future dance career. There is both individual mentoring and scheduled “check-ins” with the group regarding well-being throughout the program.
Dance Theory in Practice
We provide you with theoretical knowledge that you, as a dancer, can apply in practice. We teach dance history, which will give you a deeper understanding of the ”movements” we work with on the floor.
The anatomy and physiology of the body are explored, as well as how to prevent and treat injuries while in the dance studio – knowledge that is linked to our physical “Full Body Awareness” subject.
We prepare you to become a skilled dance communicator with knowledge of didactics, different teaching methods, and pedagogical considerations in connection with teaching dance.
Content of the Dance Program
The dance program is built around dance styles from the street dance genre and the classical modern/contemporary dance world. We deliberately introduce you to both worlds, as we believe that knowing and mastering multiple dance styles creates a skilled, strong, and more versatile dancer.
